We have been working with Home Grown Hotels since its conception and are delighted to continue this long relationship by working on the latest addition to its litter, THE PIG-at Bridge Place near Canterbury in Kent.
This is the sixth PIG to which we have provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying support in collaboration with Robin and Judy Hutson and PWP Architects and, on this project, the construction team Tekne Shopfitting
The existing Bridge Place Manor is a Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion in a country estate and, over the last four decades, was home to some renowned parties and gigs playing host in the 1970s to Led Zeppelin and the like.
In addition to creating the now famous PIG Kitchen Garden, used to grow produce for the restaurant, this project incorporated a large variety of building methods and techniques, including demolition of the existing 20th century night club and refurbishment of the existing period manor house to provide seven bedrooms, bar and snug areas.
It also involved construction of a new two storey traditional built coach house extension cleverly blended to match the period house, which now provides 12 rooms and a restaurant; seven new timber framed Kentish hop pickers’ styled huts using reclaimed materials on stilts next to the river, together with the conversion of the separate existing gatehouse and old stables to provide two family friendly lodges and The Barn, a rustic two-storey hideaway.
